Matrixlab Magic3 60% Baby Blue
I recolored my keyboard but of course I didn't do it myself lol, but Prime Ano helped me make my custom keyboard even more custom.
My Magic3 so far
I've had my Matrixlab Magic3 WKL for a while now, and I've loved both the keyboard and its original color. The linen version paired beautifully with colorful keycaps like Domikey Watermelon.
Want to see my build and hear how it types? Check out this video:
I changed the keycaps a couple of times to different sets, and it still looks stunning. This is the CRP Japanese Pink Keycaps by Hammerworks mixed with DCS Paperwork.
Even changing to something low-key, it still looks good!
From Linen to Baby Blue: A Colorful Transformation
Don't get me wrong – Matrixlab's original coating is superb. It has a premium texture that many enthusiasts adore. But for me, the original color leaned more towards dark cream than light, which didn't quite suit my preference.
Luckily two of my kibor friends, shout out to Lamy and Sherb, helped me send my board to Prime Ano Korea. Apparently, it's one of the best in the anodized custom keyboard scene. The process was surprisingly quick and transparent:
- I sent the keyboard and specified my desired color.
- They confirmed the color before starting.
- After completion, they sent photos for my review.
Pro tip: Lighting can affect how the color appears in photos, so keep that in mind when reviewing.
The best part? If you're not satisfied, they're willing to adjust the color at no extra charge!
The entire process, including shipping, cost less than 130 SGD. For fellow Singapore-based keyboard enthusiasts interested in recoloring, I highly recommend contacting Sherb for help with color works.
So here are some photos of how it turned out. What do you think?
Final Thoughts
I'm happy with how this turned out. In the keyboard hobby, it's so tempting to keep buying new boards - unless you've retired or reached your 'endgame'. But I've realized that sometimes, you don't need a new keyboard at all. A simple color change can make a world of difference.
Of course, this is just my personal take. At the end of the day, it's about finding joy in what you have or customizing your existing gear to your satisfaction. For some, that's more than enough to keep the passion alive 🙂
